A new chapter unfolds...
Dear bloggers past and present
The summer has long gone, we are are back to another IELTS season at the British Council, Abu Dhabi.
We have a six week, six hours a week, 'slow burn' extensive IELTS preparation course. In the past and perhaps in the future, we tended to go for the three / four week hyper intensive IELTS. This course should be more gentle, but no less serious than previous sessions.
The Tuesday/Thursday rhythm means that it is even more essential to keep in touch via the weblog. Past ieltscommunity members are most welcome to join us on this latest adventure. Let's see how i-community13 shape up!
Bye for now
See you on the blog!

Wow!! The legendary Tony still full of enrgy and determination.
Hi, Sir. Not sure if you still remember me. I'm Jithu. Used to be your old student. I guess its been a year now. Time moves really fast. Anyways, I'm currently in Abu Dhabi for the past 3 months. Had come over to the BC but found out from the weblog that you had gone off for the summer. Anyways, would like to meet up with you. Would love to see 'the man' doing his favourite job. Well, cherio. Hope to catch you up soon.

Hello Jithu!
Always good to hear from old friends!
See how it works -i-community13? We can keep in touch and remember the good old times (especially when you 'crack'the magic band 7.0 overall!!!)
Jithu, you will find me in Room 7, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.00 to 9.00pm. I'm usually at the BC from 5.30 onwards, so come down early for a chat or come and meet the latest class!
Jithu stood out with respect to his cheerfulness, coolness and confidence.
I wish you all the best for your studies in India, Jithu and am sure that you are doing superbly.
Very best regards
Tony

Hi sir,
may I ask you if you do not mind, why this course has been changed to 6 weeks. I think 2 days a week is so little and 3 hours a day is too much that we could get bored or tired. I believe this course is not balanced.
See you tomorrow,
Ahmed Mutawa

Hello Ahmed!
Thanks for your comment and for joining the weblog successfully - others please note!
As for your question, you'd better ask the British Council Director, I'm just the tutor!
A 36 hour course is a 36 hour course is a 36 hour course...
The problem perhaps stems from Ramadan coming earlier this year and not allowing an intensive three or four week course. In actual fact it gives you more time to absorb the material I give you and for you to go online or better still, come to the British Council during those "boring" days and use the LEARNING ZONE!
The three week, 12 hours a week, course is very intensive, some can manage it, others can't. Maybe nine hours a week over four weeks is the best 'happy medium'.
Let's see how things work out it, it is still early days. personally, I find the chance to 'catch my breath' between lessons rather pleasant.
Basically then, what you seem to be saying is there is a too long gap from Thursday to Tuesday - five days. I agree, but there is nothing I can do to change the timeframe of this course.
A THREE HOUR LESSON is certainly not ideal, but it can work and has done so in the past!
What it also means is that there is all the more reason to take advantage of the WEBLOG!!!
Ciao!
A demain!
Toni
